The vine-growing and wine-making history of the familia Eguren Ugarte dates back to 1870, when Modesto Ugarte started to grow his own vines. In 1989 his grandson, Victoriano Eguren Ugarte, built the new winery in Laguardua-Rioja Alavesa, at the foot of his vineyards. The fourth generation of the family and their team are now responsible for the historic ‘Heredad Ugarte’ Winery, combining technology with tradition to make excellent wine.
