Dewar’s Double Double 36 Year Old is an exceptional, blended malt whisky created using the special ‘quadruple ageing’ process pioneered by Dewar’s Master Blender Stephanie MacLeod, who in 2021 was awarded the title of Master Blender of the Year by the IWC for the third year running. The new edition is presented in an opaque black glass bottle, featuring the series’ eye-catching four-point design to mirror the four-stage ageing process which includes ageing the malt separately before blending the Speyside malts together and the Highland and Islay malts together and ageing them, then all the malts are blended ahead of a two-stage ageing process. The final stage is carried out in Madeira casks.

The final liquid for the 36YO features notes of vanilla, coconut oil and ripe peaches.

First planned in 1896 by the sons of John Dewar, Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery is the only Scotch whisky distillery built by the Dewar family. Dewar’s was already a highly successful brand of blended whisky, renowned for its quality, and the company needed more single malt whisky to use in its blend.

Innovation comes in many forms, and in 2019 our Master Blender, Stephanie Macleod, released a new range of Blended Scotch Whiskies with a unique Four Stage Ageing Process for Ultimate Smoothness. This may sound like an indulgence, but the series has been picking up gold medal awards the world over since being released.

We believe that in order to do things right and get the best results you should put in double the effort; everything else is just a job half done. So we asked ourselves how we could put in double the effort to our range that was already Double Aged for Extra Smoothness? The answer was obvious…double it!

Our Double Double Series has been aged, blended together, aged again, then finished in different types of sherry casks for up to a year for the Ultimate Smoothness.
