This wine presents a deep and intense red color, with carmine hues. On the nose it is powerful, characterized by red fruit notes like ripe cherry and strawberry with soft touches of dark chocolate, and sweet smoky notes from aging with French and American oak. On the palate it has medium volume, with silky, mature tannins, and a very pleasing persistence.
Red meats- grilled, stewed, and roasted, hard cheeses, bitter vegetables- arugula and eggplant.
Luis Felipe Edwards is a major Chilean winery producing more than 2.5 million cases per year and exporting to more than 85 countries. It won Chilean Winery of the Year at the 2012 London International Wine Fair awards.
The estate was founded in 1976 by Luis Felipe Edwards Sr., when he bought an old wine estate in its own valley at Puquillay in Colchagua. The original vines on the valley floor date back to the 1930s, and further vines were planted on terraces on the valley sides.
